I did not write this resolution, but received it in an email. I don't know who the author is. It seems like a good idea to present it at precinct meetings, to help educate the 'blue dog' Democrats in our state.

Resolution to Legalize Democracy and Abolish Corporate Personhood

The meeting started with several NC Democratic Party candidates making a pitch to the group and fielding questions. David Young, who is running to be state chair, was questioned about the possibility of Shuler running for US Senate. Mr. Young did not think that was going to happen. Mr. Young said that he supports collective bargaining for state employees as it is part of the NC Democratic Party platform. He also said that he would do a nation-wide search for executive director and that the treasurer would post finances of the party on line.

Progressive Democrats of NC held their annual meeting in Greensboro this past weekend. Here is my report on the meeting. I always learn something about progressive issues in the state of NC from these meetings.

FRIDAY

Hello friends,

I am coming to the Annual Convention, and I am also working on a small project to help the people of Haiti. This is being organized via my church (Asheville Friends Meeting) and the American Friends Service Committee. Haiti has suffered several hurricanes, buildings falling down, and people dying of starvation. This is just a small effort to try and help them out in their time of desperate need.

I have written up a precinct resolution below to address the suffering of the Iraqi refugees. Representative Waters has a bill introduced that will address this huge and still growing problem. Press release for this bill is here:
