PDNC Executive Committee Meeting 1/24/2007

PDNC Executive Committee 1/24/2007

Present: Pete, Susan, Isaac,
Chris, David, Matilda, Delmas and Helen

We reviewed events of SEC Meeting in Elon: concensus is that we were not clear about
Jerry's amendment and too much time was taken up with elections, awards and
announcements.

Recommendations:  We present resolutions to P & R Committee
30 prior to next SEC Event

 Develop
strategies for communicating with one another during the meeting

 Hand out PDNC
Energy Bars for SEC members wanting to leave early

The New Plan of Organization Committee meetings
are taking place in a few weeks. Delmas
is talking to progressives in other states to determine useful strategies for
cranking grassroots initiatives into legislation.

Other strategies for pushing our resolutions
through the system were discussed and the following determinations were made:

-Develop a list of
Progressive legislators (via email) whom we can send our proposals to.

Susan will do a brief cover letter asking for their support and
endorsement.

-Get the list of
current county chairs from the NCDP website (Matilda) and send our resolutions
to them so they can begin to introduce them at county level meetings

Susan suggested composing a
newsletter
which contains info about important upcoming events in
addition to suggested action steps...number one being to renew membership and
contribute funds. Our resolutions and
goals would be featured. The Newsletter will be sent out to everyone on our
list.Preset

Our next Annual Convention
of the PDNC will be combined with a Lt Gov. Candidate forum and will be in
Greensboro on June 2 or 9.
Delmas will contact Lt Gov candidates to find out which
date suits
everyone the best.

Municipal Candidate Training date set for May 5

We need to pull in other
active Progressives for help with our projects and possibly form ISSUE
based task forces to achieve our long and short term goals. We will brainstorm about this via email.

Each of us needs to ask people who went through the
candidate training to write a brief endorsement of the training: how it helped
them....and send replies to Susan.

Helen will get abbreviated minutes of our meetings to
Mike to post on website

Next phone conference date: Feb 20 at 8:15 PM
