PDNC Executive Committee Meeting
3/19/07
Present: Pete, Delmas, Mike, Isaac, Chris, Matilda, David
and Helen (Susan stranded in California)
Mike checking into places for the Summit on May 5 and will wrap
things up soon
Delmas will talk to Judy Porter and Isaac will talk to Bryan Freeborn
re: attending
Matilda to talk with Pam Williamson re: providing some training
Chris will mail out Municipal Candidate Questionaire to everyone for
suggestions re: revamping for other candidates
Announcements need to be put out everywhere
about the Summit and everyone
in the group needs to compile lists of progressive thinking folks and groups to
send invitations to: ie: environmantal groups, interfaith alliances, civil
rights organizations, womens groups, etc.
Susan: to do write up on Summit
Matilda: to email out materials
Training team will pull everything together with help from our friends like
David Mickey, etc.
Moving resolutions through Legislature: Chris
and David to
compile a list of 30 legislators who will pay attention to the progressive
agenda. Chris will do a cover letter for the legislators. Chris states that the members of PDNC need to
know what principles we are working towards and that the executives should
respond to the input of the group as a whole on these issues. Therefore Matilda
will email out
questionaire to everyone on the list re: what we should be putting forth as our
major issues.
Chris will hammer out the 10 principles.
It was suggested that Greensboro be the place of
our Annual Meeting and the local group lead by Mike Sprague and Jule Landon
might be able to help us set it up.
Implementation team for the the Annual Meeting:
Delmas, Chris: policy
and platforms
Delmas and Matilda will talk to folks in
Forsyth like Roger Kirkman, Dan Bennet and Leslie Holder.
Announcement was made re: People of Color Day on March 28 and hopes that some from our group would be able
to attend although it is on a Wednesday.
Progress on other Chapters mentioned: Henderson
County, Forsyth, Guilford, and Wake.
Susan and Helen: to work on uniting some folks in the high country area and
brining them into the fold of the PDNC
Issues of major importance to Progressives at
this point: Smithfield plant and Campaign Finance Reform/Ethics
